| well...i'm finally back in good old lancaster county!! It is so nice to be home and to see everyone :) well, i am working for my dad and for a book distributor doing secretarial work...its nice and it pays well. I was able to go to the choir concert on sunday, and everyone involved did a nice job. it was fun to be able to watch for a change. well finals went okay. I am really excited for the fall and my double! yay for summer | | |
| ok so things are going better, sorry for that, just had a rough day...but anyway
today was chapel choir, and they had elections, and guess who is the new chapel choir president?
you got it...me...
haha i laughed so hard! but i would now like to be referred to as Ms. President thank you...haha i'm just kidding, but yeah, the end is near for this semester, and work is piling up and i continue to wonder what i was doing at the beginning of this semester when i was sitting around with nothing to do, because there is not a free moment now...but life is busy yet full of wonderful surprises and random lovely moments...like having 4-square in the middle of the quad before your next class, or random trips to eat-n-park in the wee hours of the morning, or going to the sac and just sitting and talking about nothing, while enjoying every moment. though i am only a freshman, i can't believe the path that my life has taken even in this too short of a year...all i can say is thank you to those who happened to cross my path and make my life even more memorable and enjoyable. I am sad to lose those who are seniors, yet excited to gain more friends and memories as my years progress...i am excited yet scared for this summer...so many things are different and changed from last year, but i am truly happy to see everyone. I will miss those at GCC but i will look forward to years ahead here at this wonderful place. I thank God for allowing me to spend this year here, and hopefully 3 more. I am working to be open to whatever He has in store for me. I feel like there are some things that i need to understand about myself before too much happens in my life. to everyone, have a great rest of your school year and good luck with finals and everything...
| ok...so frustrated...so many things...wow...if only life would just work for once... | | |
| Wow...that is all i can say...wow...
i just got back from one of the most amazing experiences of my life...i cannot really express how amazing my week has been. I have met so mamy new people, and made so many new memories and i am almost sad that it is over...almost...i am glad to get off the bus that was my home for the past 11 days...and to sleep in my own bed and not live out of a bag. the families that I stayed with were so nice, and i was able to see things that I have never seen before...i went to connecticut, new jersey, new york, and delaware, and then places in PA, but each day had a new adventure and story to go with it. I need to write this all down before i forget it all, but life is so exciting, and I am looking forward to this next month before it will all be over...and then the summer!
I am really sad about losing so many of my good friends to graduation, but new ones will come next year, and make touring choir amazing again. I wasn't sure how this would go, but it has been amazing. good luck to everyone in their last stretch of school stuff!
| okay...so random thought...
my roomate elyse was reading the wall street journal, and came across an article entitled "New Cellphone Services Put God on the Line" The entire article is about different religious services that are being offered to cell phone users...examples are-
1. A service company based out of Middle East offers their users a complete version of the Quran, in English if you want. They also offer an internal compass so you know how to face the direction of Mecca. Also, they offer an alarm that will go off during the times of prayer.
2. Another phone company offers a "kosher" phone for Jewish people. it has symbols that say that it has "been approved by the Rabbinical Committee for Communications". Also, it offers a 10 cent call for all kosher users, and then a more expensive fee for those not in the network.
3. although there are more, this was hilarious...they offer a Christian based service as well. Their slogan is "have you talked to God today?" One of the founders, David Kirkpatrick, says "the company's products make religion more convenient for people who occasionally don't have time for church" then he says, "In our busy lives, having access to spiritual resources on the go will help us all keep connected to God."
okay...great...if you have these services, which cost you 5.99 per month, that is wonderful...but what happened to good "old fashioned" prayer, or worship or opening the Bible to read God's word. I am sorry...this is taking technology a little far...and about making religion more convenient, this is Christianity, we aren't suppossed to pray or talk to God when it is convenient for us. Sorry...this brought a chuckle to my afternoon..hopefully it will to you too...by the way, it is around 65 here. i am finally wearing capris and flip flops...how beautiful
i hope everyone is enjoying their day
